What's in a name?

Darling Husband:
"I see 'the Geezer' has put huge rocks outside his gates to stop people driving on his verges, I might get the digger and move them to irritate him"

'Geezer' = our newest neighbour (a mile away, but that's fairly close around here), who hails from Kent. Sounds like 'ALWIGHT?' and 'WOTCHA MATE!'

'Dutchy' = Mr Holland, lives next door to the Geezer. (Once wore shorts every day for 12 months (short, shorts that is) for a bet. How much was the bet?

Darling Husband:
"There's a duck-filled-fatty-puss outside"
Duck-filled-fatty-puss = "Boots" the cat, having swallowed a whole duck that was a little too gamey for our liking. Sunday lunch was a vegetarian affair today.

Darling Husband:
"That's a 'Garlic' driving that tractor, either that or Prince Charles has a 'Case'

'Garlic' = Mr Garlic the farmer.

'Tosser' = tractor drivers (beginning with 'G') that won't pull over for cars to overtake. (Also managing director of Think Courier)

Darling Husband is so awfully eloquent today.

He is an eloquent man of many talents - I've just read about his Houdini waistcoat-escaping talents below! The wedding sounds fab!

I do know what you mean about tractor drivers but I really have to jump to their defence, my husband being one himself.

Farming is a 24 hour day in the harvest and if tractors were constantly pulling over for traffic to overtake they wouldn't get anywhere. We have to rely on the weather so much (especially up here) which means when it's good harvesting days the tractors have an awful lot to do.

Best wishes, Crystal xx

Thank you Pig.
Crystal, Darling Husband is a farmer..it was him complaining about his fellow farmers!

The rock moving thing Frog - does your husband need a hand? I have some unresolved issues that could be helped by frustrating a middle-englander empire builder...

i get so mad when tractors won't pull over, especially when there is a line of about 200 cars behind, and they could just nip into a layby, probably taking about 2 seconds off their busy schedules! and specially as the roads round here are so windy there is no chance of overtaking for about 20 miles. sorry to sound mean, but i have spent the last 6 weeks being stuck behind the bloody things!

your husband sounds very entertaining!

Love your husband's eloquence. I rant at tractors too.

I always think - though I have yet to check whether it is fact or not - but farmers have a heirachial thing going about different tractor brands... there is a ghost of a memory from my agric college days. I'd agree on the Case one I much prefer my tractors green....

I'm dissappointed no-one has tried to guess what the bet was for wearing shorts for a year!
